The Kurdistan region generally has seen recently an upswing in tourist visits (from both Iraq neighbouring countries and internationally). In particular, since 2003, the Dohuk governorate is planning to build places in order to create symbols and attractive points for tourists around the world. The launch of a design competition for an amphitheatre on the model of the classical Roman style is part of this strategy.
Objectives of the project are to:
1- Establish an area for festivals and national/cultural occasions.
2- Create an open air theater for local and foreign singers.
3- Attractive and interactive point for tourist visitors.
4- Promote a growth in tourist income, Investment and higher economic development.
